David Marx, JD  - An attorney and engineer by training, Marx is President of Outcome Engenuity (link is external). Spurred by the Institute of Medicine’s 1999 seminal study, To Err Is Human: Building a Safer Health System, and recognizing the need for a Just Culture approach, Outcome Engenuity began focusing on healthcare. In 2003, Marx wrote "Patient Safety and the ‘Just Culture’: A Primer for Health Care Executives" for the National Institutes of Health.

Danielle Ofri, MD- Author of What Patients Say, What Doctors Hear (link is external), is a physician at Bellevue Hospital, the oldest public hospital in country, and associate professor of medicine at NYU. She writes about medicine and the doctor-patient connection for the New York Times, Slate Magazine, and other publications. Danielle is co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Bellevue Literary Review, the first literary journal to arise from a medical setting. She is the author of a collection of books about the world of medicine. 

Victor Montori, MD - Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, an endocrinologist, and a health services researcher. He is a recognized expert in evidence-based medicine and shared decision making, and developer of the concept of minimally disruptive medicine. He chairs the board of the Patient Revolution (link is external), an organization dedicated for transform industrial healthcare into careful and kind patient care for all and is the author of Why We Revolt–A Patient Revolution for Careful and Kind Care.

Martin J. Hatlie, JD - Director of the MedStar Institute for Quality and Safety (link is external). Mr. Hatlie is active in healthcare transformation work, serving as a technical expert and coach to healthcare provider organizations, physician practices and Quality Improvement Organizations participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Partnership for Patients Campaign, Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative and QIO Quality Improvement Network.

Timothy B. McDonald, MD JD – Director, Center for Open and Honest Communication (link is external) at the MedStar Institute for Quality & Safety. Dr. McDonald is a pediatric anesthesiologist, and also holds a degree in law. He is an internationally recognized expert on patient safety, communication and the delivery of high quality patient care who served as the lead architect for the CANDOR (Communication and Optimal Resolution) toolkit.

Matthew Scanlon, MD – A pediatric ICU physician at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (link is external), with formal training in epidemiology, patient safety, quality and human factors engineering. His research focuses on how clinical work is really done (Work as Done v. Work as Imagined), the impact of technologies on clinical work, and how to optimize the performance of a sociotechnical system.
